“Il caffè Alessi” – by Doriana and Massimilano Fuksas for Officina Alessi
2005
“Il caffè Alessi” stems from the Tea & Coffee Towers project Alessi organized in 2003.
In this project 22 international architects attempted industrial design for the very first time by designing a coffee and tea set. These items were constructed mainly from silver. The production costs were very high making it impossible for a majority of Alessi fans to acquire these sets. So, Alessi has introduced for spring/summer 2005 “Il Caffè Alessi” made of porcelain and designed by two of the architects that partecipated in the first project: Doriana and massimilinao Fuskas.
Together with the two large “E-Li-Li” vases, one stainless steel and the other ceramic and the “Mao-Mao” Rectangular tray, the mocha cups are the first results to be slated for indistrial production, stemming from the research done on the limited series of the “Tea & Coffe Towers” design project.
